The 6-Step Plan to Break 100
⛳ Step 1: Adjust Par & Expectations
Forget about playing to a "par 72." Instead, think of the course as a par 99—giving yourself an extra stroke per hole on the easier ones and two extra on the toughest. This shift makes golf instantly more manageable!
🏌️ Step 2: Find the Right Clubs
Stop trying to hit clubs you think you should be using. Instead, build a stress-free bag with clubs that give you confidence. For me, that meant leaving my 3-wood and 5-wood at home and relying on my Ping chipper & new LAB putter for consistency.
🚀 Step 3: Course Management (Avoid Blowups)
Forget hero shots. Play away from trouble, take your medicine if you're in a bad spot, and always leave yourself a comfortable next shot. Simple adjustments = fewer disasters.
🎯 Step 4: Short Game Mastery
The secret? Two-putt max rule and toe-down chipping. No more chunking chips or three-putting myself into double bogeys.
🧠 Step 5: Mindset - Patience & Smart Decisions
One bad hole won’t ruin your round—unless you let it. No more FOMO, no more scorecard self-sabotage, just stick to the plan.
🔥 Step 6: Execute & Track Progress
Breaking 100 isn’t a one-time thing—it’s about building a repeatable game. After every round, I track my stats and adjust. That’s how real progress happens!

📊 Round Stats Breakdown
Here’s a quick look at how this round played out:
🏌 Score: 98
🎯 Putts Made: 36
🚀 Fairways Hit: 9/13
🎯 GIR (Greens in Regulation): 6/18
📉 Handicap: 36 (According to Arccos)
My Own Takeaway/Thoughts
Compared to a 20 HCP (thats the highest I could set it) 😅, here’s where I (as a 36 HCP)gained and lost strokes this round.
✅ Where I Improved
Putting (+2.1 SG) – Big improvement (+3.0 SG from recent rounds). 10-25 ft putts were a strength (+4.3 SG).
Driving Accuracy (-1.9 SG, but 86% Fairways Hit) – Distance still lacking (-1.8 SG), but staying in play.
🚧 Where I Lost Strokes
Approach Play (-8.1 SG) – Worst area. 100-150 yard shots (-3.5 SG) and only 2 GIR (11%).
Short Game (-1.2 SG) – 25-50 yard chips (-0.6 SG), avg. chip proximity 29 ft (target 17 ft).
Short Putting (-2.8 SG) – Struggled inside 10 ft; too many 3-putts.

⛳ My Next Steps to Breaking 100 Consistently
🔄 What I’m Changing
1️⃣ Approach Shots – Club up, aim center, smooth swings.
2️⃣ Short Game – Get chips inside 15-20 ft consistently.
3️⃣ Putting – Daily 1-3 ft drills to reduce 3-putts.
4️⃣ Driving – Keep accuracy, but work on distance gains.
Next Steps
Focus: Approach & short putting—biggest stroke savers.
Breaking 100 = smarter targets, better short game, and clean execution.
